This song comes
from a copyright song collection called “Like, Dig the New Pad, Man!” from
1990. My collection titles often reflect events in my life; this one refers to the Chandler Street condo in Boston’s South End, where Bob
and I moved after leaving Medford. I pushed for that move, but didn’t stay long
in the condo. I moved back to Des Moines to work in shows at the Ingersoll
Dinner Theater. It was the first of many such ill-advised returns to my
hometown.
Don't You Mind
© 1990 Brian HutzellI heard what she was sayin' to you
I saw the way she treated you
Don't you mind?
Don't you mind that she doesn't treat you right?
I visited your company and saw you on your hands and knees
Don't you mind?
Don't you mind? Why don't you resign?
And I'll bet you don't complain
When you're caught out in the rain
And you don't say a word
When they're flippin' you the bird
But you act so concerned if I'm a little hurt
Don't you mind about my affairs!
Don't you mind about your own?
The landlord raised your rent again
And you're smellin' what you're steppin' in
Don't you mind?
Don't you mind that you're messin' up your life?
Don't you mind?
Don't you mind?
Don't you mind about my affairs!
Don't you mind about your own?
You never say a thing about all your suffering
You don't look upset
Though your ceiling's dripping wet
But you act so concerned if I'm a little hurt
Don't you mind about my affairs!
Don't you mind about your own?
