In the late
1970s, disco took over the world. I don’t mean just music, but the entire
world. Disco was everywhere. In the movies, on TV, in fashion, in the velvety
black light posters we put on our walls, in the shiny white suits. I think it
was even in our breakfast cereal. I loved it! Especially the studio disco
orchestra Meco, who had a big hit with their cover of the Star Wars theme. The kings of disco music were The Bee Gees, who
ruled the airwaves like nobody since The Beatles. I didn’t realize they had
been around since the early 1960s. Since then, I’ve gone back and listened to
many of their older albums. I have great respect for their songwriting. I have
even postulated my “Bee Gees Rule,” which states that any time you are out in
public for any length of time, you will hear a Bee Gees song. Next time you’re
out anywhere there’s a sound system with piped in music, try the test, and see
if it isn’t true!
We Could Have Made It Right

I bet we could
have made it right somehow
Don’t ask me; I
don’t know right now
But I bet we
could have made it right somehow
And if once it didn’t
work for us
Doesn’t mean love
didn’t burn...
Because it did,
it did; I know you felt it too
Because you said,
you said the heat was coming through
But now it’s dead
instead--nothing we can do
It’s a shame it
had to end this way
If we had a way
to turn back the days...
I bet we could
have made it right somehow
Don’t ask me; I
don’t know right now
But I bet we
could have made it right somehow
And if once it
didn’t work for us
Doesn’t mean love
didn’t burn...
Because we had,
we had a perfect kind of love
Much stronger
than we planned--a winning formula
Until the gaps,
all patched, started to erupt
When the image
burst it hurt the worst
But if we could
have caught it first...
I think this
separation might have ended from the start
Purely
speculation, but I’m speaking from the heart
When I say we
could have made it right
I think we could
have made it right
I bet we could
have made it right somehow
Don’t ask me; I
don’t know right now
But I bet we
could have made it right somehow
And if once it
didn’t work for us
Doesn’t mean love
didn’t burn
