I wrote this song
after my first taste of the 1980s New York nightclub scene. I would never have gotten
in except that I happened to have a friend who had a friend who knew all the
right people. He got us into Area and Limelight, including the VIP lounges. It
was fun and funny to whiz right past the folks standing in line, right around
the velvet rope! I couldn’t have been more out of place.
