"Bi"

Gay. Straight. Bi. Trans. Queer. These are just a few of the many terms floating around to describe a person’s sexuality. Lately, thanks to trendsetting celebrities like Miley Cyrus, a new term has arisen: Fluid. The sexual lexicon is expanding. (Has anyone coined the term “sexicon” yet? If not, dibs!) My primary motivation in writing this song was so I could use the “bi bi love” line. My apologies to The Everly Brothers.

Walking the streets,

I couldn’t help but notice life’s a box of sweets

When you know this, you don’t want limits

There’s a lifestyle I like to explore

I’m as versatile as a swinging door

Only one condition: lose your inhibitions

Bi bi love: Measure for measure--double your pleasure

Bi bi happiness: Only 2 choices; let’s raise our voices

Bi bi love: Don’t be timid--there’s no limit

Bi bi happiness: Oh, the joys of girls and boys

I get badgered from both sides--they find me too confusing

Say I should make up my mind, but I don’t feel like choosing

There are pros and cons to every sex.

It isn’t wrong to be perplexed

Everyone has questions, so here is my suggestion:

Bi bi love: Measure for measure--double your pleasure

Bi bi happiness: Only 2 choices; let’s raise our voices

Bi bi love: Don’t be timid--there’s no limit

Bi bi happiness: Oh, the joys of girls and boys

Maybe it’s right for you, maybe it’s not

But don't summarily dismiss that nagging thought

Maybe there’s two sides; maybe there’s more here

Express the sentiments you used to fear

There’s a lifestyle I like to explore

I’m as versatile as a swinging door

And if you’ve got it, flaunt it--let them know you want it!
