Those white
things in the background in the picture are pelicans. Lots and lots of pelicans.
Not Wanting To Do

Ooo, where can I
go?
Where can I learn
right from wrong?
Lately, my life
has been a road that’s much too long
Going on and on
Using up pencils,
writing about my feelings
Run up the wall,
look at the ceiling
Been there
already, but it wasn’t steady
Ever had one of
those days last for a week?
Had a job to
find, but not the energy to seek?
Deadlines
approaching much too soon
And a million
things I’m not wanting to do
At my table,
chewing on some gunk
Concentrating
more on that than other junk
My face for poker
is only mediocre
Got a million
things I’m not wanting to do
Falling out of
step--a continuing threat
Self-conscious
about my age, but at least I’m back on stage
Ever had one of
those days last for a week?
Had a job to
find, but not the energy to seek?
Deadlines
approaching much too soon
And a bazillion
things I’m not wanting to do
Ever had one of
those days last for a week?
A month? A year?
A lifetime?
Had a job to
find, but not the energy to seek?
Deadlines
approaching much too soon
And a whole lotta
stuff I’m not wanting to do
With my trusty King
Liberty 2-B trombone
in Jester Park, Iowa
