In 1990, I was trying to follow-up A Heart Calls Quietly, and having trouble
doing so. The result was a series of strange little pieces, wildly outside
musical experiments, and lengthy mashups of journals, songs, and art, and
collage. This little ditty came along somewhere during that time. These days I’m
trying to dial back the strangeness and get back to basics. We piano players always
seem to have trouble doing that. I need to do some writing away from the keyboard,
and stick to guitar and/or bass.

Life Changes
© 1990 Brian HutzellOf course it ended; we all know that
It was the big heroic finish
But then for a while I didn't feel like being a hero
I settled down and started our little family
Life changes when we least expect it
It turns around, a new direction
It stops and goes without a warning
And things we planned must be conforming
It's emphasized at Christmas time
The celebration brings back elation
No matter how hard we try
We can't stop time
The quiet after the storm
The new dawn
Rebirth
New life
Beginning over
Step back and breathe
Fresh air
Life changes when we least expect it
It turns around, a new direction
It stops and goes without a warning
And things we planned must be conforming
It's emphasized at Christmas time
The celebration brings back elation
No matter how hard we try
We can't stop time
