This is a sequel
to “I Saw Her.” Not a very good one. A throwaway song. Still, in the interest
of completeness, here it is. My only intent at this point is getting my stuff
out there into the world. Let others judge it as they may. Of course the next
step is to get myself out into the world. I tend to be a homebody, which is not
good for an entertainer. Since the Boston move fell apart back in June, I’ve really
been a hermit. I went from doing 5-10 gigs a week to doing none. This is the
holiday season, which should be my busiest time of year, yet I have nothing on
my performance schedule other than my usual Sunday church accompanying job, and
Tuba Christmas next weekend.

I Saw Her Again

I saw her
What a funny
feeling to see her again
Never thought I’d
be so near her again
Near enough to
see her
Near enough to
see her
I touched her
What a funny
feeling to touch her again
Never thought I’d
be so near her again
Near enough to
touch her
Near enough to
touch her
I’m reminded of
the time we met – can’t forget
The spaghetti
where we went, you and I – tasted fine
And the one thing
I recall more than all the rest
Is how we said
goodnight
We were standing
at your door
I was staring at
the floor in fright
I kissed her
What a funny
feeling to kiss her again
Never thought I’d
be so near her again
Near enough to
kiss her
Close enough to
kiss her
Now I stop and I
step through the fog
But I’m not
trying to set back the clock
I loved her
What a funny
feeling to love her again
Never thought I’d
be so near her again
Near enough to
love her
Close enough to
love her
