This is one the “lost
songs” from Plastic Mikey. “Why Does The Rain?” is another. I have the lyrics, but
not the music, which is a shame because in both cases I am quite pleased with
the lyrics. These songs came near the group’s end. In dreams, I am frequently
looking for a place I’ve been before, and want to get back to, but can’t seem
to find. In other dreams, I find a long lost room filled not necessarily with
treasure, but with interesting stuff. The two dream themes seem related, and
occur often enough that I can’t help but think my subconscious is trying to
tell me something. If only I could find that forgotten place, or that lost
room. I can’t shake the feeling that the thing I’m looking for is close at
hand, but something is preventing me from seeing it.
Life Outside

I’m going out
tonight
I’m going out
Don’t wait up for
me
Don’t wait up
I know there’s
work to do
Things to be done
Never stops for
me
Never ends
In the meanwhile,
there’s something better
In the meanwhile,
there’s something more
Don’t want to lie
to you
Don't want to
hide
Give me privacy
Give me room
Everything I do
Every trick
Will come out in
time
Will come out
In the meanwhile,
there’s something better
In the meanwhile,
there’s something more
Hanging with my
usual crowd
Steady,
well-defined
Know the
routine--through the hoop
Need a life
outside
Pardon my secrecy
And the
occasional silence
Maybe I'll let
you in
Maybe I won’t
Every dream I
have
Every wish
Will come true in
time
Will come true
In the meanwhile,
there’s something better
In the meanwhile,
there’s something more
