At the risk of
sounding immodest, this is a pretty good song. I never perform it though,
because it was written for a love that didn’t work out. I suppose every
songwriter has been in that situation. Pity the poor sap who writes such a
doomed love song that turns out to be a hit, condemning the writer to a
lifetime of reliving a broken heart. (I guess I could stand it if the song made
me rich enough.

I love you, and I
would like to hold you here with me
Nobody disturbing
our serenity
But there’s a
light within you
And the light
beneath a bushel isn’t mine to hide
Lift the bushel
up so you can...
Shine, shine like
the star you are
You’re gonna
shine for all the world to see
You’re gonna
shine, shine like the star you are
And I’ll be
loving the light that shines on me
You’re dancing
And the beauty of
the movement turns the hour into a special moment
Wish that I could
dance beside you, basking in the beauty of your shadow
Everywhere you
go, I see you...
Shine, shine like
the star you are
You’re gonna
shine for all the world to see
You’re gonna
shine, shine like the star you are
And I’ll be
loving the light that shines...
Wherever you may
be
Pray that I may
be there with you
Sharing the heat
coming from the fire within you
Burning day and
night
Your passion
ignites the music pounding in your soul
The sound begins
to glow, making you shine
I love you, and I
would like to be a part of you
I could light a
candle if you want me to
Or maybe you can
show me how to...
Shine, shine like
the star you are
You’re gonna
shine, and I’ll be shining too
We’re gonna
shine, shine together like the stars
I’ll be loving
you
You are the star
in my life
Our love will
shine through the sky
