"Passion Dissolves"

This was another long-distance collaboration between Wally and I, but don’t blame him for these lyrics. Sometimes I write something that seems absolutely brilliant at the time only to read like absolute garbage years later. There are a few good moments in “Passion Dissolves,” but it’s all too clear that I ran out of ideas and fleshed it out with meaningless filler.

Passion Dissolves

Ice cream cone in a minikin hand
Tender feet on the burning sand
Sun bearing down on a lemonade stand
A cry going up as the drips fall down
A frowning face looking forward to a taste of ecstasy expectantly
Will have to wait for another date
For this one it's already too late

Melting ice cream
Rusting steel
Passion dissolves and then it feels like salt in water on a cut
Passion dissolves and the scene is shut

Shot in the back as you ran away
Parting blow - what can you say?
Parson me, je suis pique
Mon amie, tu vas payer

Melting ice cream
Rusting steel
Passion dissolves and then it feels like salt in water on a cut
Passion dissolves and the people involved don't come when called

They retreat to a famous street
Where the shops stay open late
Where the drinks are free (they think)
And the food stays on the plate

Like at the end of Buster's "Cops,"
Ice cream drops and love is lost
Look at the price; it's a terrible cost
Don't give up; we all have flops

Melting ice cream
Rusting steel
Passion dissolves and then it feels like salt in water on a cut
Passion dissolves and the scene is shut
Melting ice cream
Rusting steel
Passion dissolves and then it feels like salt in water on a cut
Clean again, back on the hunt
