I thought this
was ever so clever when I wrote it, but now I cringe a bit at some of these
lines: overly cute, pretentious, and reading more like an exercise than
anything with real feeling behind it. I think I have in many ways outgrown my early
pop lyrics.
Night School Teacher
© 1985 Brian
Hutzell
I found myself
with time to spare in the evenings
At first I fell
to sitting there, taking it easy
Then I heard a
night school ad on the TV
Told myself,
"Now here's my chance, my relieving!"
First time I saw
her
Couldn't believe
my eyes
Here was my
teacher
Beauty before my
eyes
F is for effort,
but not forever
C is for seeing,
but not for ceasing
H is for aching,
but not for hating
B is for being in
love
With my night
school teacher
How can I reach
her?
She reads my papers
Says I'm
incapable of doing homework
Learning my
lessons
I try to tell her
She just won't
listen
I guess I didn't
make the grade
I found my
concentration down in the classroom
I tried imagining
her in the bedroom
Then the report
cards came: I was failing
Told myself,
"Here's my excuse for a meeting!"
First thing she
told me
Caught me by surprise
"I've seen
you staring, lust in your eyes."
F is for effort,
but not forever
C is for seeing,
but not for ceasing
H is for aching,
but not for hating
B is for being in
love
With my night
school teacher
How can I reach
her?
She reads my papers
Says I'm
incapable of doing homework
Learning my
lessons
I try to tell her
She just won't
listen
I guess I didn't
make the grade
Don't be tardy
Don't be late
There's no
refunding once you've paid
F is for effort,
but not forever
C is for seeing,
but not for ceasing
H is for aching,
but not for hating
B is for being in
love
With my night
school teacher
How can I reach
her?
She reads my papers
Says I'm
incapable of doing homework
Learning my
lessons
I try to tell her
She just won't
listen
I guess I didn't
make the grade
